I started watching Koutetsu Sangokushi, and it took me about 2 episodes and the assistance of Wikipedia to find out that its characters are based off of the historical novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The anime is pretty interesting, which was a surprise to me since I wasn't really expecting anything. The fact that it reminds me of Dynasty Warriors is also a plus (which reminds me, I need to catch up on those Sengoku Basara episodes...) I'll update more about it after I finish the series though.
All I really wanted to say was that I despise technology. And you ask, why would I, a new media student who is currently studying web development, ever hate the very thing that comprises not only my future career but also my current internship, especially since I spend most of my waking hours on a computer? Well, let me tell you. I just spent $70 because online shopping is so fucking easy that it's ridiculous. At least with the books I bought I saved some money, especially the last group of volumes; I saved about $25, but still. I need to save money and the easiness that comes with today's technology just makes it that much harder. I hate you, online shopping. I really do.
But I suppose something good came out of it. I do really need to get back into reading books. I haven't fully enjoyed a book since middle school, and I'm already supposed to be a senior in college (erm, yeah, according to the credits I currently have, that's not happening). My use of vocabulary and my way of speech is really shitty compared to what it should be like as a university student. I'm going to try and read better material, sans the 2/3 of the previously mentioned order I placed consisting of books that are meant to entertain rather than heighten my intellect :P
Okay, here goes Attempt #2 Attempt #3 Attempt #4 at writing this entry because the first time
I accidentally pressed back and it went to the previous page and I
didn't save my entry beforehand, the second time my connection timed out because Vox likes being a jerk apparently, and the third time I accidentally clicked on one of the pictures in my entry while I was writing and it brought me to my journal again. Wtf.
Anyway, before I break my computer and toss it out the window into the snow... I bought some Christmas presents for myself before I left for San Diego
on winter break, but my stuff didn't come in until I had already left
so I didn't get to post about it and remind myself that I've got $10 in my wallet
now and I probably shouldn't be buying things.
I was expecting really crappy pictures for some reason, but the photos inside are really nice. There are some pages that have a lot of empty space though (they put small images on it instead of larger ones, probably more for the design aspect of the book than anything). I like how the boys look in this one though :D Ryeowook especially, which is quite a surprise but his hair is awesome lol.
The calendar is pretty nice, too. I usually never buy myself a calendar because I don't bother with it, but if it has Super Junior on it maybe I'll start actually paying attention to what day it is lol. It even has little notes on the members' birthdays, just in case you're not as much of a stalker as some fans are and/or you're really bad at remembering birthdays in general (the latter applies to me). It's kind of big though... But the cool thing is that it gives you choices between two different pictures to use for a specific month. There's a black and white photo and then a colored photo on the next page, so you can turn the calendar around depending on which one you want to look at :) I was wondering why the calendar started on December, but then I remembered that there's 13 members in Super Junior, so there would have to be 13 months on the calendar.
The inner booklet has pictures of each of the members, and a separate quote from each of them, although I don't know what it means.
The only problem I have with it is that I don't like Tukutz's hair (it's the same as in their "1분 1초" MV. But I still love him lol. I'm really glad that there's more pictures in this release. Pieces, Part One had pictures, but most of them were resized smaller. In LOVESCREAM's booklet, the pictures are the size of case and the lyrics are at the very end in single paragraphs.
The last thing I bought was a Zombie-Loan artbook :) Yeah, I know. I'm a nerd. Leave me alone. But I like this seriies and they had Shito and Chika on the cover so I couldn't help myself lol. There are a lot of pictures I'm thinking of scanning later to make layouts out of, unless someone in a ZL community somewhere has already scanned them. I bought this at that anime/manga store by Mission Valley mall. They had a Samurai Champloo artbook which I was thinking of getting, but the second time I went there it was gone :( so I got this one instead. I love this series, so even though there are some pictures that aren't as good as the others, the biased side of my brain (a.k.a. the fangirl part) doesn't really care. I just bought it for the Shito and Chika pictures anyway. Uh. Sorry, Michiru fans.
The total of everything (including the artbook) was around $100, including S&H for the first two items since I bought them from Yesasia. The S&H for them was free though, but I also got a LOVESCREAM poster (lol, again, leave me alone) and that cost $5.99 to ship since the people at Yesasia don't let the free shipping and handling thing apply to posters, which kind of sucks but I really wanted an Epik High poster haha. I forgot to take pictures of it, but they have a preview of it on Yesasia anyway.
I'm happy with the stuff I bought, even though I'm kind of broke right now, but I'm going to try not thinking about that for awhile XD
My taste in music has shifted... yet again. I've been listening to Aerosmith, Oasis, Elliott Smith, and Rancid lately... on top of some Thai pop music >__>;; I know, wtf. I'm not even Thai. Oh, and there's also some pop-ish rock music... You can blame PureVolume for that one. What I don't get is why every other band listed on that fucking site starts with "The". Fucking annoying.
I am so bored. Looks like the people I friended on Vox haven't been updating lately... I wonder why. Posting here feels a bit nostalgic though, it reminds me of snow and Christmas time. Weird, right?
Talk show hosts who aren't funny should STFU and stop making lame-ass jokes. It makes the empathetic side of me feel bad for them because they are so f-ing lame.
And I've gotten addicted to buying shit online... this is most likely due to the fact that I never used to be able to do that. I mean, even at 18 all I had was a card for my saving account. I didn't have a debit account... and it was funny because all my other friends did.
But yeah, I bought some PVC figures... just 2... because those were the only 2 that I really wanted. I also got some manga which should be coming in the next week or so. I need to start working on Christmas presents T__T omfg... I hate getting presents for people. It's not that I'm a cheap bastard and don't like giving things to people, it's just that I don't know what the hell to buy.
And why the fuck are Code Geass figurines so expensive? I don't give a shit about the female characters, all I wanted were Lelouche and Suzaku dammit!!! You bastards. You pervy bastards.
