Okay. So. My opinion is obviously biased, but I liked the movie, er... for the most part, but that may be because I'm extremely easy to please. Just throw in a hot guy and I'm set. And, in this movie, Tom Felton was pretty much the only reason why I enjoyed it so much, along with some of the more humorous bits. I thought this movie would be dark, but it's not. They touch on everything so lightly, you'd have to read the book to get the full dramatic effect. It's a shame, really, since it should be the other way around.
I was also disappointed at how much romance was in the film, though I do remember certain parts in the book centering around the Lavender/Ron/Hermoine love triangle. The girl who played Lavender was hilarious, crazy, and a little bit creepy, but she played her role well and I'd be lying if I said I didn't find her stalker abilities amusing.
I wasn't too fond of the lack of Draco Malfoy. I mean, he had his scenes, but I suppose I was just expecting them to emphasize on him and Snape more. I don't know. I'm difficult to please when it comes to my favorites, and Malfoy is obviously my favorite (that stupid, sexy blonde and his stupid long legs). The movie, as obvious as it is to everyone that people actually do age, really surprised me when I saw how much older everyone had gotten. Still, it seems everyone had a growth spurt except for Daniel Radcliffe, which was a bit funny when Potter and Ginny kissed since the young Weasley was the same height as him. It certainly did make me snicker.
I was hoping there'd be more of an obsession from Harry towards Draco, only because the book seemed to really suggest that Harry was going a bit overboard with how close of a tab he was keeping on the Malfoy heir, but it was just another thing to add to the list of disappointments.
I did like the young Voldemort scenes. Even though I couldn't help but notice that the Voldemort from the 2nd movie(?), The Chamber of Secrets, had brown eyes, and the new Voldemorts have blue ones. Or whatever color they were. They obviously weren't brown. For some reason I was more scared of the young Voldemorts than the actual, adult one, which is kind of funny when you think about it.
They left out a bit out of the book from what I remember. Hell, they may have even left out more if I actually did remember what it was that I read. It seems to me that, although this was an enjoyable movie to watch, they made the movie for just that: Entertainment. I know books are meant to be entertaining as well, but they at least tell a story. This film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, seemed more focused on reeling in laughs from the audience and younger teens than following with the storyline of the book and showing the darker side to Harry Potter's world.
Overall rating: 7/10
And most of that is thanks to Tom Felton's sexy, long legs. Oh, and the cool, shiny effects in the film because they are shiny.
How awesome is this shit?
Pineapple Express was awesome. Like, 100 times better than Superbad (not that I hated the movie, it was goddamn entertaining). But James Franco is seriously amazing in this. It's so fun to see him in a comedic role, the last time I saw him was in Spider-Man.
Man, the Franco/Rogen duo is just awesome!!!11!!!!ELEVEN!!!1 (haha, always wanted to go crazy with the exclamations, I think it brings out more of the nerd in me).
And I assure you, after watching the movie you will either A) want to get high, B) be giggling to yourself like mad making other people think you're high, or C) both A and B.
So, this movie is not recommended to the following people:
1) High schoolers that don't want to get high
2) Parents who don't want their kids to get high
3) People who haven't smoked in a while and would probably get addicted to it again
4) People who will smoke pot and then try other drugs like... well... the worser ones(?)
5) Uh... cops?
6) People who hate Seth Rogen and/or James Franco (wtf is wrong with you people?)
7) People who are really uncomfortable with homosexual situations
Yeah, #7 might throw you off, but if you see the movie you will understand. It was hilarious though XDD "Are we gonna be BFFFs? Like, Best Fucking Friends Forever?"
God, Franco. You are awesome. I want to marry him. How can a guy seriously pull off the whole stoner look and STILL BE HOT? Especially when his character had been running around, sweating like a mule, and wearing pajamas throughout the entire movie. Franco is... otherworldly...
Anyway, in conclusion, the movie is definitely recommended (unless, of course, you fit into one of the 7 categories of people which I listed)... but even then, if you don't see this movie you'll be a fucking douche. So, go watch it. Now. Like... right now. Do it.
Edit: New layout because Kyuhyun rocks and he beats your mom by... a lot.
The Love Guru sucks. Do not watch it.
Because In The Name of the King did it for me. Oh yes, it's movie review time! Be prepared for use of profanity, capitalizations where capitals need not be, and links to IMDB profiles which you probably won't care to view.
First off, I didn't know there would ever be a time in which I would be reminded of Lord of the Rings, Power Rangers, Harry Potter, The Matrix, and that Hercules show in just one movie. The fact that it's based off a video game does not bother me. In fact, I would love to see more movies based from video games, as long as they don't turn out as shitty as this movie did.
There are multiple reasons why I do not like this movie. For one, the actual filming really blows. There are times when it just looks like an amateur is behind the camera. The angles on some scenes just annoyed me. And in the beginning, it felt like we were jumping from one scene to another too quickly, like as if there wasn't enough time to take in what little info we got out of the previous scene. I mean, I realize that there is obviously a budget and you have to take into consideration how much film you're using and the actors and staff and all that other crap, BUT ALL I WAS ASKING FOR WAS LIKE 5-10 EXTRA MINUTES just added onto the beginning. Or at least a smoother transition instead of ramming through the entire thing as if the world was about to fucking end.
Another thing that made me ticked off was the casting. As good as Jason Statham was in The Transporter and uh... all those other movies he was in but whose titles escape me, he does not fit the role of a fucking farmer, even if that farmer can kick some ass. IT JUST DOES NOT WORK. His voice just takes away from the character and it just makes me think that the Transporter guy got sucked into a black-hole and somehow ended up in medieval times with sorcerers and shit.
Also, I do not want to see Mathew Lillard on screen... ever again. SLC Punk! was good, very very good, but after that it went downhill. Mostly when he played Shaggy in those Scooby-Doo movies (I will kill whatever lame-ass decided to butcher such an awesome cartoon series like that). His accent wasn't consistent in this one. And I don't get why the fuck he has an accent when his fucking uncle (who is the king) doesn't have a fucking accent. DIDN'T YOU GROW UP IN THE SAME FUCKING PLACE???? WHAT THE FUCK. IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE.
I did not like Ron Perlman's character at all. Truthfully, I think they could have done a better job casting for his role, too, but I'm not saying he's a bad actor. But word of advice: Stick to Hellboy, man. Just stick to Hellboy and you'll be fine. One thing that made me crack up though, which is kind of bad but, Statham's brother-in-law and Perlman's character got abducted by those Orc-wannabes. And when Perlman's character *SPOILER* dies, the brother-in-law is all like, "You died a courageous death." Lemme tell you why this is so hilarious: He was fighting those Orc-wannabes for about 15 seconds and he got fucking stabbed and that was his courageous death? Uh. I would understand if he had infiltrated the enemy castle and taken down 100+ motherfuckers in the process, but 15 seconds after breaking free from your chains you're just going to get killed off?
Fuck that. That was not courageous at all.
And lastly, but certainly not least, one of the worst castings for this film was probably for Gallian, the evil sorcerer/mastermind of this whole shabang. I'll just put this out there... Ray Liotta (1954) is fucking old. The fact that he had "relations" with Leelee Sobieski's (1983) character just made me want to gag. Was a little bit less of an age-gap too much to ask for? Plus, she is so much better looking than him. WTFFFFFF. Just thinking about those scenes with them together brings chills down my spine. Very bad chills. Sobieski better have gotten a huge ass paycheck for this movie if she had to kiss those 58-year-old pairs of lips.
Other bad castings were Claire Forlani as Solana (the wife of Statham's character) and Burt Reynolds as King Konreid, but I won't get into those because I don't feel like explaining myself.
Good castings would include Brian White as Tarish, Mike Dopud as Backler (must have been his hair), Sobieski as Muriella (she was good although her character didn't do shit until the end), and John Rhys-Davies as Merick (mostly because he's a kick-ass actor anyway). Speaking of Rhys-Davies, I didn't realize dwarfs were so tall! hahaha. Joking, of course. If you didn't get that, it was because he was the voice for Gimli in LOTR.
As for the scenes of the movie, the epic battle scene(s) could have been better. A lot better. The fight choreography was pretty good considering the shitty filming of it all. But, for me, I didn't feel like the battle was epic enough, if you know what I mean. It had as much feeling of importance as a fight in school or something. The effects during the Gallian's sorcery parts where he's in that room that looks like it's made of stormy weather clouds closely resembled a scene you would see in Power Rangers, mostly because the "special effects" were really crappy. But when you're, like, 7 years old it looks pretty cool.
In the end, I give this movie a 3/10 because the storyline was good, but the way it was carried out was poor. So, who do I recommend this movie to? 7-year-olds, anyone I hate, anyone that gets high on a regular basis and is looking for something to get strung out to, anyone that gets drunk and then falls asleep 5 minutes into the film, and anyone who doesn't give a shit about this review and will watch it for themselves only to discover that the film is, in fact, one of the shittiest things that will ever be filmed in this decade.
WHY THE HELL IS IT SO HOT OUTSIDE??!!! WTF, WEATHER. GO BACK TO THE 70's LIKE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO!!!!!
So yesterday, against my better judgment, I agreed to have brunch at 94th Squadron (I think that's what it was called, might have gotten the number wrong). Anyway, it's not like the food was bad, IT WAS SO GOOD, but it was fucking hot outside and it was still only 11am. It usually gets hotter around mid-afternoon, I'd say, but I'm not sure since I don't really pay attention ^^;;
Well, brunch was good. And I met my step-mom's step-daughter and grandchild (or at least it was her step-daughter), December and Angela. Angela wouldn't stop clinging to my arm, mind you she's like 8 years old so she's obviously not some 3-year-old running around acting like a crackhead. But MY GOD it was so hot outside and she was clinging on all the time. She kept wanting to hold my hand so I would let her and our hands would get all sweaty from the heat X__X;; I was dying. But she's such a cute kid! Really :) If I had a little sister, I wish it would've been her.
Although, both of my brothers were there and they treated her like a princess >_> even when she stole Eric's sunglasses (he's the middle child of our family so he's known to be bitchy all the time at times) he didn't even get mad at her. HE GOT MAD AT PETER, my other older brother (who happens to be the oldest). It was funny :D but then it kind of made me feel weird, I guess, because if I did that shit, even today, Eric would've threatened to throw me out a window. Either that or he would give me this pissed off look, haha.
Oh well :) Peter told me that I was the coolest little sister he could have anyway since I was so quiet when I was younger and smiled at everything and was "cute" as he put it. Unfortunately, being almost 20 now, I'm not that cute nor do I smile often, but I'm still quiet XD
And I watched Iron Man finally!!! IT WAS SO GOOD! I had no one to watch it with while I was in Indiana so I didn't go to the movies when everyone was hyping about it. I'd spazz more on the movie, but it's ridiculously hot in my room right now and I'm having such a hard time typing because I'm starting to sweat. Seriously, sweating just from typing is the stupidest thing to sweat from.
I just have a short update.
Go watch 300. It came out in theaters today yesterday (now that I look at the time lol). There's blood, fighting... blood, more fighting, some porn sexuality/nudity, some weird goat guy that plays the guitar and looks like he's high, and some pretty fine looking half-naked guys (*cough* 300 of them *cough*). Yes, that last one really made the movie entertaining. Plus there's that guy from LOTR who played Faramir.
Well, それだけだ。じゃあね!
先週お鮨を食べたいと思ったんですが、お兄さんはスーパーでお鮨を買った。スーパーのお鮨は全然美味しくない。千葉のお鮨を食べたい。今、カリフォルニアに行きたいよ。でも、来週まで待つ... T__T;;;; 待ちたくない~ LEAVE ME ALONE, my Japanese sucks >__>;;
Hahahaha...
On a different and less whiny note, I took some pictures. If you didn't know, or if I didn't mention it, my mom and brother came to visit me this past week. Actually, they left this morning around 7am.. but I was beat tired ^^;; they know I love them anyway hahah.
We watched Casino Royale. I already wrote this on my livejournal, but it's friends-only so... whatever. It was a effing good movie. Sort of makes you want to go and marry a rich guy just to have all those nice cars.. and a huge ass villa by the sea.. Go watch it if you haven't already done so. Even Peter, my brother, said it was better than the older ones. We went to watch it at Rave theaters, located at fancy shmancy Metropolis mall hahaha.. Metropolis.. now if only the place I lived in was called Gotham instead of Plainfield, I would be living in Batman. Anyway, I took a picture (because no one was @ the mall, probably because it was Sunday at 8pm..)
Yeah, I should take pictures of the rest of the mall, it's really nice. They're still adding on to it, too! Not like I go shopping all that much so I could really care less.. but at least we have a mall haha.
So, I have no more classes but I have a Psychology final to study for T__T I'll start studying.. on Thursday haha. I have until the 18th to take it, so I figured if I study until the 16th and take it then, then I should do fine haha. So, 4 days of studying should do... right? Haha.
あっ!When my mom and bro were still here, we watched Just Friends. It's a hilarious movie. When the main guy was lip-syncing to All 4 One's "I Swear" I was cracking up. 1) Because I know that song by heart and 2) he had funny ass facial expressions while he was singing lol XD
Eragon is coming out on Friday! I read the first book a year or so ago (whenever it first came out). I picked it up because I like dragons and apparently that book has dragons in it haha. Plus, it reminded me a little bit of LOTR.. for some reason. And nobody hates LOTR.. I've only met people that think it's stupid haha. I don't think it's stupid, but reading the books were very difficult for me because my vocabulary sucks.
Movies I want to see over Winter break:
- Eragon
- The Pursuit of Happyness
- Stranger Than Fiction
- The Holiday
- Letters From Iwo Jima (omfg Kase Ryo.. I <3 you~)
- Night at the Museum
Well, I'm done talking. I'll probably update again if I watch Eragon this week before I leave for Cali or if I feel like telling you how bad I did on my Psychology final ^___^ "Take care because I care!" (Peter says that all the time..)
[edit] I forgot to mention I switched themes because this layout reminded me of "The Brave Little Toaster" lol.. [/edit]
About Love is a so-so movie.. it's basically composed of three stories dealing with a language barrier between three couples (a couple for each story evidently lol). Yeah, Kase Ryo, Tsukamoto Takashi, and Ito Misaki (from Sapuri) are the Japanese stars in it.. I'm not too good with Chinese/Taiwanese stars so forgive me ^^;
My favorite story is Shanghai.. IT'S SOOOO SAAADDDD. I already had this movie.. I burned it off to a cd but I misplaced my cd somewhere.. and some completely awesome person uploaded it ^__^ xie xie~
OMFG. I really need to stop listening to Chinese music.. it's turning me Chinese-washed.. and I'm already Japanese and Korean-washed.. damn you Taiwanese dramas!! *shakes fist*
But seriously, Silence (Shen Qing Mi Ma) is such a good drama.. and Vic Zhou <3 ok, his hotness is sorta going down because he just keeps looking older and older to me the more I watch that show.. but I don't really have anyone else to fangirl over.. so.. haha VIC ZHOU!!
And I started with It Started With A Kiss again.. I think this time I'll actually watch the WHOLE THING instead of skipping.. because by the end of the 20 episodes I didn't understand crap about how they got together.. that's the problem with me: I tend to skip through parts because I'm impatient.
Yeah, well, whatever.
